Matthew F. Richter, Esq.

Mr. Richter is a founding partner of MIDLIGE RICHTER, L.L.C.

Prior to forming MIDLIGE RICHTER, L.L.C., Mr. Richter focused his practice on the representation of the insurance industry in the defense of fraudulent claims for medical expense benefits.  Mr. Richter’s representation included pursuing claims against individuals, health care providers, and diagnostic facilities under the New Jersey Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.  The issues Mr. Richter has confronted over these litigated matters include improper corporate structure, compliance with Board of Medical and Chiropractic Examiners regulations, and improper self-referral.  As a result of Mr. Richter’s efforts, his clients realized savings in excess of two million ($2,000,000.00) in benefits, and obtained judgments in excess of one million, two hundred thousand dollars ($1,200,000.00) in these matters.

Mr. Richter’s prior practice also included the defense and trial of matters involving public entities and public officials, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and excessive force claims.  Mr. Richter’s broad base of experience also allowed him to focus on the representation of individuals in the purchase of residential and commercial real estate, and in the formation, restructuring, and operation of small and medium sized businesses.

Since forming MIDLIGE RICHTER, L.L.C., Mr. Richter has continued his representation of individuals, businesses, and health care providers in a host of issues which they confront.  Whether representing the first-time homebuyer in the purchase of a home, an owner whose business is expanding to meet growing demand, or the victim of work-place discrimination, Mr. Richter’s experience and attention to detail allow him to counsel clients through their involvement with the legal system.

Mr. Richter also works closely with various health care providers to secure prompt and proper payment of Personal Injury Protection (“PIP”) benefits through the arbitration process before the National Arbitration Forum (“NAF”).

Mr. Richter frequently lectures to Realtors, mortgage and title professionals, and individuals on new developments in real estate law, and how these developments impact their involvement in the real estate process.  Furthermore, Mr. Richter was previously a regular lecturer New Jersey Special Investigator Association, presenting on topics including bad faith, claim investigation, and medical provider compliance.

After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College, Mr. Richter obtained his juris doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Mr. Richter is admitted to practice in all New Jersey Courts, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Richter and his family have lived in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township for the past ten (10) years.
